Win Enterprises is shipping a single-board computer (SBC) that supports two 45nm Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors with extended lifecycle support. The Windows-compatible MB-60630 offers a dual-socketed PICMG 1.3 format, and targets military systems, medical imaging, scientific analysis, digital media, and oil and gas exploration.

The MB-60630 is implemented in the 13.3 x 5-inch PICMG 1.3 [PDF file] format. It can host a matched pair of Intel L5410 or L5408 quad-core Xeons, which are clocked at 2.33GHz and 2.13GHz respectively. Alternatively, it can host dual-core Intel Xeon LV 5100 series processors, for lower-powered applications.

Announced in February, the quad-core Intel 5400 series parts include a seven-year lifecycle guarantee. They feature a whopping 12MB of onboard L2 cache. Thanks to the efficiencies of the 45nm technology, the power envelopes for the processors are only 50W (L5410) and 40W (L5408), says Win Enterprises.

The MB-60630 uses Intel's "power-optimized" 5100 memory controller hub (MCH, aka "northbridge.") It supports up to 48GB of memory, in six DDR2 slots. It also offers 20 lanes of PCI Express support, and six SATA2 slots for up to 3Gbps throughput. I/O includes dual gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, and serial ports, plus a FireWire connection. An ATI X300 64MB graphics processor is optional.
